Cliford Gray

Cliford Gray's journey is marked by radical transformation and a relentless pursuit of God’s call. Following that call, he attended Nyack College, where he earned a degree in Pastoral Ministry and Psychology. While on campus, he founded a small group called The Remnant, which quickly grew into a movement, attracting over 150 students from across the tri-state area. It sparked a revival among the student body, leading to numerous deliverance sessions and stories of salvation.

 

Cliford later married and became the founder of Launching Pad Church in Mount Vernon, NY. Today, he fathers three children and continues to impact the world with his message. A recognized force in the Christian hip-hop scene, Cliford is a Dove-nominated artist, a Kingdom Choice Award winner for Song of the Year with "City of God," and the recipient of Rapzilla’s Song of the Year People's Choice award.

City of God was sparked by a moment of deep conviction. When Cliford first heard “City of Gods” by Fivio Foreign, Kanye West, and Alicia Keys, it hit him differently. Though he admired these artists, the title stirred a righteous anger within him. Allowing “Gods” to be spelled with a capital “G” felt like a slap in the face of his faith. It wasn’t about judgment but love—the love he had for these artists and the desire to see no one fall into the trap of thinking we are more than what we are. We are lowercase ‘g’ gods, created by the one true God, and the glory belongs to Him alone. A few weeks later, after a late-night movie with his wife, Cliford felt the Holy Spirit nudging him awake at 2 a.m. He resisted at first, but after an hour of wrestling, he got up and started writing. As soon as he found a beat, the song practically wrote itself. He felt God’s heart not just for New York but for every city around the world, reminding him of the scripture, “Seek the prosperity of the city you live in.” This wasn’t just about a song; it was about a movement. God was calling him to spark revival in the cities. City of God was born out of that encounter, fueled by a mission to reclaim cities for God’s glory. It’s more than just clothing—it’s a lifestyle that speaks truth into pop culture, reminding people where the real glory belongs. .
